Wilmington Renaissance Corporation has been working with partners — the City of Wilmington, Interfaith Community Housing of Delaware, Christina Cultural Arts Center, Wilmington Housing Partnership, Quaker Hill Neighborhood Association, the United Way of Delaware and others — to develop a Creative District in the Downtown/Quaker Hill/West Center City neighborhood. The goal is to develop a Center focused on both Creative Production and Consumption, where creative entrepreneurs (artists, musicians, designers, makers, manufacturers) and residents thrive and locally designed goods and original works are made and sold.
The Wilmington Renaissance Corporation is currently leading the implementation of Wilmington's Creative District initiative. Comprising the area bounded by Fourth, Ninth, Shipley and Washington Streets, the Creative District will be a vibrant city center, focused on innovative production and consumption, where creative entrepreneurs - artists, musicians, designers and tech innovators - and neighborhood residents thrive and where locally designed goods and original works are made and consumed. Current active non-profit partners in this creative placemaking project include the Christina Cultural Arts Center; City of Wilmington; Interfaith Housing Coalition of Delaware; Creative Vision Factory; Chris White CDC / Shipley Lofts and Gallery; Quaker Hill Neighborhood Association, West Center City Futures, and Connections CSP.
